The NSWIS/SSA Snowboard Team has finished up training in
Colorado for the winter rounding up a successful training camp.
We had great conditions throughout the entire camp with access
to pristine Halfpipe’s in Breckenridge and Copper mountains. We
also attended 1 Grand Prix event and 2 Revolution Tour events
along the way with some solid results.
The only hiccup along the way was Jarryd Williams unfortunately
heading home early with a broken collar bone. He has now
recovered and is back surfing and getting fit again for this
coming winter at home. Sam Murphy and Charlie Steinbacher are
back home and heading back to school. Jason Maxfield is staying
on in the USA doing home school and snowboarding in Vail till
the end of the season.
Nathan Johnstone and I headed to Calgary Canada last week to
begin a series of 2 World Cup events, one more Grand Prix and
finishing with the US Open. Nathan had a great qualifying run in
Calgary placing 3rd in his heat which had him bypass Semi’s and
go straight on to the night final. In the final he unfortunately
fell on his last trick on both runs and ended up with a very
respectable 11th place.
We now head to Quebec to compete in the World Cup on March 9.
I’ll write in again soon with another update on this last leg of
our season.
