Holly Crawford will miss the rest of the season after tearing her anterior cruciate ligament in a training mishap.

The 19-year-old OWI halfpipe team member was forced to miss the Chevy Grand Prix event at Mammoth Mountain, California, USA, over the weekend and will fly home for surgery early in the week.

The extent of the injury is currently being investigated, but Crawford is expected to return home in the next two days for surgery.

The injury is a huge blow to Crawford and the team, with her early season form showing great promise. The Perisher Blue rider placed eighth in the opening event in Valle Nevado, Chile, and recorded another top ten with a ninth in Stoneham.

She is currently sitting in 19th place on the World Cup standings, despite missing one of the four events contested so far this season.

Two of Crawford?s OWI team-mates competed in the Grand Prix, with Mitchell Allan missing the final by two places, finishing in 22nd position. Andrew Burton was 25th, while Ski & Snowboard Australia Development team members Mark Baker and Michael Williams were 58th and 64th respectively.

On a brighter injury note, Frances Miller is scheduled to return to Mammoth Mountain on January 27th to resume training.
