Moguls skier Maria Despas has finished in fifth place at the world championships dual moguls event in Deer Valley.

Maria won her way through two rounds, defeating Bernadette van der Groen of the Netherlands and Nikola Sudova of the Czech Republic before going down in the round of eight to Norway’s Ingrid Berntsen.

She then defeated Nagano gold medallist Tae Satoya of Japan in the head to head battle for fifth and sixth place

The other four members of the OWI team – Manuela Berchtold, Jane Sexton, Adrian Costa and Michael Robertson – all went out in the first round.
