Today was the last competition for our very long tour.
The conditions in Engelberg were fantastic. Course was 245m long and 28 steep. 15 countries attended the competition.
Friday’s Single mogul competition saw Emma Chapman-Davies finish 5th, which equaled her best result so far in the tour.
The dual moguls event was a jackpot for Emma, as she qualified 4th (top 8 qualify for Finals), won her first dual making it to the semi-finals. In the semi-final run, she faced the highest qualified girl and fought well but her speed didn’t match the Kazakhstan skiers speed. In the fight for the 3rd and 4th place, she beat Germany’s Marie-Therese Schraudolf by 14/11 points and got her first ever European Cup podium. She has improved her skiing dramatically in the past few weeks and the results are now showing.
Hugh Norton crashed his run in the single mogul competition on Friday, but got his best-ever position in today’s dual mogul qualification finishing 24th.
The field in this competition was 23 women and 60 men.
We were sad to hear that next weekends competition in Roccarasso Italy, was cancelled due to very warm weather meaning, that our trip overseas comes to an end.
I am personally very happy for every skiers effort in training and in competitions and am confident that the rising of mogul skiers in Australia will continue.
