In ski cross events overnight, Jenny Owens was also in strong form, finishing in fifth place in the World Cup in Meiringen, Switzerland.

The Perisher Blue skier qualified well down in 13th position, but came out in the first round of the finals to win her four-woman head-to-head quarter-final encounter.

She lost out in the semi-final round, but then bounced back once again to win the small final for placings five to eight.

Owens is currently ranked fifth in the world in the discipline that will make its first Olympic appearance in Vancouver in February 2010.
