Ramone Cooper has finished in sixth place in moguls in the
Freestyle Junior World Championships in Airolo, Switzerland.
Cooper scored a very high 26.85 points in the final, but was
then swamped by a rash of scores in the high twenties.
In an American sweep of the podium, the world title went to
NorAm moguls champion Bryon Wilson on 28.85 points.
Jay Bowman-Kirigin, the men's World Cup Rookie of the Year,
took silver with 28.30 points and Joe Discoe claimed the
bronze with 27.50 points.
"I made some small mistakes in qualifying and I didn't
qualify very high," Cooper said.
"So it was going to be difficult to do well from such a low
position."
"But I had a good run in the final and scored 26.85 which
was pretty high so I held onto the lead for a long time."
"But then the last few guys got massive, massive scores."
"It was so high it was unbelievable."
Ekaterina Stoliarova of Russia won the women's title with
27.09 points.
Cooper will contest the dual moguls Monday night Australian
Eastern Summer time.
