NSWIS/SSA coach Peter 'Toppa' Topalovic reports that, despite
marginal snow conditions at the beginning of the five week camp, all
four athletes - Ramone Cooper, Emma Chapman-Davies, and Rob and Tom
Lovick - have had a great camp and shown significant skill
improvement.
"I could not be happier as we complete the final pre-season training
phase," Toppa said.
"We've had a 180 metre long course with separate mogul specific
jumps for optimal training, and we have been following to the minute
the dryland strength and conditioning programs provided by the Alex
Moore from the Sydney Academy of Sport."
"All the athletes are in excellent physical shape with no injuries
to report apart from Tom Lovick who arrived with severe bruising to
his heel. With regular visits to the physio and good management
that's now close to 100% and Tom is making up for lost time at a
very suitable pace."
The team will depart for Apex Mountain on January 12 where they will
start with a warm up single and dual mogul event at the BC freestyle
series and then head for the Dolni Morava in the Czech Republic for
Europa Cup competitions on January 21 and 22, and January 24 and 25.
Depending on Europa Cup form and results, team members will also
line up in the World Cup in Spindleruv Mlyn on February 3 to 5.
