Hayler forced to settle for 7th
16 Feb 2006
Damon Hayler had to settle for 7th place in the snowboard cross
after being forced off the course in the semi-final at Bardonecchia.
Coming into a turn at the top of the course, his line was blocked,
forcing him to miss a gate and the 29-year-old was disqualified for
failing to complete the course.

night for Begg-Smith

Australia’s Olympic champion Dale Begg-Smith received his gold
medal one day after he claimed first place in the moguls, and who
better to hang it around his neck than AOC President John Coates.
Begg-Smith received his medal in front of a huge pro-Australian
crowd, that included his friends and family that gathered in the
medal plaza in the heart of Torino.

sport in Australia.
Bouyed by Begg-Smith’s performance in Torino, the Australian Olympic
Committee today announced a major boost in funding for winter sport.
