E-NEWS EDITION 38

Welcome to the 38th edition of the Ski & Snowboard Australia E-News.

Following difficult snow conditions at most of the Australian resorts, the recent snowfalls have been welcomed by all skiers and snowboarders keen to get stuck into the domestic competition season. This latest dump is a huge relief to event organisers, competitors and sponsors after the average snow conditions over the last month lead to a number of events being postponed or cancelled.

At SSA we continue to try to make available, the most up to date event information, by regularly updating race notices, results and amended event schedules on the SSA website. www.skiandsnowboard.org.au

Also in this edition of the e-news is a timely reminder of Anti-Doping responsibilities for athletes, Alpine Coaching Course information and the latest news from each discipline.

ANTI-DOPING

SSA again reminds all registered athletes of their obligations and responsibilities in terms of drug testing, familiarity with banned substance lists, notification of whereabouts for National Team members, and the lodging of TUE Forms (Therapeutic Exemptions) for athletes who, for example may be asthmatic and take medication as part of their treatment.

ASDA will no doubt be testing athletes at several domestic events throughout the season. These tests are random and with no warning, and it is up to the athlete to be aware of the procedures and policies regarding in competition testing.

The ASDA website continues to be the best educational resource for all matters relating to drugs in sport. www.asda.org.au

SSA encourages each athlete, club and family to carefully read the ASDA website and freely ask questions of SSA as required. Queries can be directed to Ryan Taylor who is our ASDA liaison officer. Ryan can be contacted on rtaylor@skiandsnowboard.org.au
