Competition Insurance

Ski & Snowboard Australia is delighted to announce that a new International Competition Insurance Policy has been sourced and negotiated on behalf of all SSA athletes.

The Comprehensive worldwide Travel and Competition Insurance is underwritten by Vero Insurance New Zealand Ltd.

The new policy provides for full travel insurance, and covers athletes for claims arising from competition and training activities. This level of cover is extended to athletes of all ages and all abilities from regional competitions right through to World Cup and World Championships. The policy is available to athletes of all disciplines under the auspices of Ski & Snowboard Australia.

In addition SSA will be providing an opportunity for coaches, parents, and supporters to purchase a competitively priced standard travel insurance product which will incorporate a rebate back to the sport. We urge as many people as possible to support this initiative as the more policies we as a sport are able to sell the better chance we have to keep premiums down in the future.

International Competition Licence

To compete internationally each athlete must have an International Competition Licence (ICL). The ICL confirms that the athlete is satisfactorily qualified, has completed the required documentation and has adequate insurance for competition and training overseas.

With the development of the new insurance policy as listed above a new combined ICL and insurance form has been created. The one form will now serve all four disciplines, streamlining the process.

2006 Australian Winter Olympic Team Nomination and Selection Criteria

For many athletes the qualification process for the 2006 Winter Olympic team has already begun.

It is important that all athletes aiming to qualify for the 2006 OWG team are familiar with the qualification, nomination, and selection process. The nomination and selection criteria’s are posted on the SSA website, please continue to check back regularly as information is constantly being added and updated.
