NAME CHANGE FOR Ski & Snowboard Australia
By unanimous approval it was resolved to change the name of the
organisation to Ski & Snowboard Australia Ltd (SSA)
effective immediately.
Over the last ten years, the growth of our sport has increasingly
been driven by the development of the Snowboarding Discipline. In
line with the global trend of National Ski Federations to recognise
Snowboarding in their name, it was moved to change the name in
order to reflect the important contribution made by the snowboard
discipline.
Naturally, it will take some time for the winter sport community to
become familiar with the change, but as of now all written
references to the organisation will be in the form of Ski &
Snowboard Australia Ltd, or as will more commonly be used;
SSA
A new look logo will be officially launched at the 2004 Ski &
Snowboard Awards on May 20th 2004.

LIFE MEMBERS
It is the prerogative of the SSA Board, to
propose to the Members, the nomination of Life Membership to the
organisation for individuals who have made a contribution to the
sport in such a manner that deserves special recognition and
adulation.
SSA has awarded Life Memberships in the past, and indeed at
the time of formation any existing Life Members of the State Bodies
received automatic life membership of SSA (then Ski &
Snowboard Australia). A list of all previous Life Members will be
available on the SSA website soon.
At the 10th AGM, it was proposed and unanimously accepted that Geoff
Henke AO and Malcolm Milne be awarded Life Membership of SSA

INSURANCE
SSA would like to
remind clubs and associations who have not yet returned the
insurance renewal information, to do so as soon as possible.
SSA has already paid the premium on behalf of the entire
sport, and is still waiting to hear back from some clubs and
associations regarding their intent to renew in 2005. SSA
considers it appropriate to pass on the costs of financing the
premium up front, to those clubs who reinsure from this point on but
have not indicated any intention to rejoin thus far.
For those who aren’t ware of the policy on offer to clubs by SSA.,
you can find more information on the SSA Public Liability
Insurance policies click here...
