The age old ski town of Chamonix has hosted the 60th Alberg-Kandahar downhill weekend, one of the classic and historical events in world cup skiing. Under close to perfect conditions the speediest men on two skis competed in Downhill and the new and thrilling Super combi, a perfect mix of speed and skill.
An excellent weekend was had by Aussie charger Craig Branch racking up more world cup points skiing into 29th. Another confidence builder considering the 3,370 meter long Verte race track at Chamonix is better suited to gliders, not one of Bud's strengths in seasons past. However this year he is making excellent time through plenty of gliding sections, areas where you have to put the ski as flat as possible on the snow and let the legs relax. In effect giving up all control allowing the skis to swim and find the fastest way over the terrain.
