Jono Brauer has missed another second run opportunity by just
three places, but edged closer on times to making the first top
30 of his career.
After finishing in 33rd place in Chamonix, Brauer repeated the
result in the Swiss resort of Wengen at the weekend, but this
time was just .24 of a second away from a start in the second
run, and 2.73 seconds behind first run leader Benjamin Raich of
Austria. In Chamonix he had been .32 away from the top 30.
Raich went on to win the event from Rainer Schoenfelder of
Austria and Croatian Ivica Kostelic.
The first three men at the top of the World Cup points table
going into the event - Italian Giorgio Rocca, Austrian Manfred
Pranger and Finnish skier Kalle Palander - all failed to finish
the first run.
But Rocca maintained his lead on the standings, with
Schoenfelder and Raich moving up to second and third
respectively.
Brauer will ski the next World Cup slalom in Schladming on
January 27.
