Jono Brauer has moved closer to making his first top 30
result for the season, finishing 33rd in the slalom in
Chamonix.
The 22-year-old OWI scholarship holder missed a place in the
30-man second run field by just .32 of a second.
The race was won by Italian Giorgio Rocca, the man who was
tied with Brauer on times in a knockout FIS slalom earlier
in the week.
In the FIS event, Brauer recorded 1:01.74 for his two final
runs over the shortened slalom course, the same time as
Rocca, but the Italian edged him out of third place on a
countback. The Australian finished ahead of seven other top
30 skiers who were in the field.
Brauer will ski in two Europa Cup giant slalom races this
week before contesting the next World Cup slalom in Wengen
at the weekend.
