Following the initial postponement of the Victorian
Junior & Senior championships due to snow conditions, we regret to
notify you all of the cancellation of these races for 2006. At this
stage, the snow situation has not improved on the proposed race hill
and the alternative options are far from favourable for running a
points race. We thank for your understanding and wish all resorts
the very best of luck in getting some September falls.

NSWIS Winter Sports Athlete
In his opening event for the 2004-05 Northern Hemisphere alpine ski
season, NSWIS winter sports alpine athlete, Jono Brauer has made a
solid start. Competing in the Nor-Am Cup slalom event, 21 November
2004 at Jackson Hole, USA Jono placed 8th in a field that included
World Champion Bode Miller. The event was won by Japanese competitor
Kentaro Minagawa. Jono’s first World Cup event will be in Beaver
Creek, USA starting on the 30 November 2004.
Craig Branch and AJ Bear who both are training in Panorama, Canada
will compete in their first World Cup event for the Northern
Hemisphere alpine ski season at Lake Louise, Canada this Saturday
and Sunday 27-28 November 04. This will be followed by the World Cup
events in Beaver Creek, USA.
Junior Development Squad
Announced
Today,
the VAC announced the names of twenty-two FIS-age Victorian alpine
skiers who have been selected as members of the Victorian Alpine
Junior Development Squad. The Squad is designed to assist FIS age
skiers with demonstrated ability to progress down the pathway
towards the Australian National Junior Team. The Squad program will
run throughout 2005, and the VAC is planning a program for members
to complement members’ existing participation in Victoria’s three
