Mitch Allan has ridden to his first top ten placing of the season,
but more importantly registered the FIS point result he needed to
qualify for a place in Torino 2006.
Competing in the same Leysin World Cup, team-mate Holly Crawford
just missed a place on the podium, finishing in fourth position.
Crawford is now 15th on the World Cup standings, despite missing
three of the seven events contested so far.
Allan finished in tenth place to register a 260 FIS point result,
well above the 140 points he needed to meet the International Ski
Federation qualifying criteria for the Games.
The 18-year-old Jindabyne rider had already met the Australian
Olympic Committee qualification criteria.
Andrew Burton was the best of the Australian men, finishing in
seventh place, while Ben Mates unfortunately missed out on the
required FIS point mark, finishing in 20th place.
Mates will get his last chance to qualify tonight in a second Leysin
World Cup
