Alisa Camplin has been named the joint winner of the
Sport Australia Female athlete of the Year award for
2002.
The award, announced last night at a black tie function
in Melbourne, is shared with world number one squash
player Sarah Fitz-Gerald.
It is the second national acknowledgement of Alisa’s
historic gold medal victory in Salt Lake City, following
the Don award which she received earlier this year.
Currently enjoying a well-deserved break in Spain, Alisa
accepted the award via a television clip which was
pre-recorded during the World Cup finals in the Czech
Republic.
