Ski & Snowboard Australia has announced the team for the 2003 World Alpine Championships, to be held in St Moritz from next weekend.

The team is:
Women
Rowena Bright - DH, GS, SL and Combined
Jenny Owens – DH, SG, GS, SL and Combined

Men
Craig Branch - DH, SG, Combined
Jono Brauer - GS, SL
Luke Deane - GS
Bradley Wall - GS, SL
Hannes Zirknitzer - SL

AJ Bear was also named in the team, but will not start because of injury.

The Opening Ceremony took place on February 1, with the first race, the men’s super G, on Sunday February 2. Jenny Owens was the first of the Australian Women athletes in action, in the women’s super G on Monday February 3. Jenny failed to finish the event after starting in 33rd position, Jenny came off line after the first jump, was unable to correct and subsequently skied out. The event was won by Austrian Michaela Dorfmeister from Kristen Clark and Jonna Mendes, both of the USA.
