Whoever organised the weather for the Kangaroo Hoppet did
a fantastic job. A handy snowfall on Friday topped up a track that
was starting to get very thin in places and then a clear night set
the snow up hard for a sunny race day.
Hoppet organisers put in an incredible effort during the week to
shift all the gear and the course up the top of the Falls Creek
resort where all the snow was. Special thanks should go to the Falls
Creek cross country groomer Ross Forrest for putting a great course
together - including building an 60 metre bridge over rocks and
bushes to link up the Pretty Valley loop. The race? Oh yes, Ben Sim
held off a tough field to win the men's Kangaroo Hoppet for the
second year in a row, while Natascia Leonardi-Cortesi was a
comfortable winner in the women's event.
Full press release and results are available on the
Kangaroo Hoppet website.
